A big shout goes out to all the All-Star teams for practicing so hard and doing an amazing job at the All-Stars tournament in La Jolla on December 7-8! Thanks to all the coaches that put these teams together and coached them up for the tournament. These great teams put an exclamation point at the end of an incredible year for Ramona Soccer League!
Season Ends With A Bang
Ramona weather doesn’t get any better than what we saw this weekend for the final games of Ramona Soccer League’s fall season. Teams celebrated the end of another great season with pizza parties, gift bags, cake and, of course, trophies for the top teams. All players went home with something for their efforts. Even if a team didn’t earn a trophy the league provided medals and pins to commemorate a fantastic season.
Some teams knew whether or not they’d be getting a trophy before the weekend started. But for others, they didn’t find out if they placed high enough to get a trophy until the games were played. That made for some exciting finishes and fierce competition. Even the top adult team, White Lightning, lost its first match of the season when the Blueberries got to them Sunday evening and spoiled their perfect record. However, in the end it was all about camaraderie, sportsmanship and fun and that’s where Ramona Soccer League always exceeds expectations.
Pink Peeps Win Division 1!
Tuesday night was the last game for division 1 and it came down to the wire to determine which team would hoist the first place trophy. The winner of the last game would be the division champs in one of the tightest divisions in the league. Young Money and Pink Peeps battled it out on wet fields under the lights with Pink Peeps bringing one of their finest performances of the season to get the 6-1 win and the division title. Pizza and cake were enjoyed by both teams afterward as they celebrated a great season.
Ramona Soccer League gave its support to those affected by breast cancer when the league declared October 26th, 2013 "Breast Cancer Awareness Day." We encouraged everyone to accessorize with pink as a reminder of breast cancer awareness and support for ongoing research to find a cure. Thanks to everyone that showed up sporting pink!
With Opening Ceremonies, our first youth games and our first adult games, it was a full weekend for the Ramona Soccer League family!! Look for photos on our RSL Facebook page and our RSL Adult Soccer Facebook page.

Ramona Intra BU18
Ramona Intra Soccer BU18 competed in the Dave Shelton Memorial Tournament August 10th and 11th. This team is the oldest in the Ramona Soccer League Intra program and was excited to be in their first tournament of the season! This team represents what Ramona is made of: committed soccer families and players that want to see the traveling soccer teams continue to be represented by Ramona players!
Most of the players are playing up in age bracket this year to complete as a team and, with the help of their coach Marco Sanchez, are showing that Ramona has a lot to be proud of! Although they did not place in this this tournament, players like goalie Erik Meza, defender Alfredo Fuentes, forward Carlos Morales and midfielder Angel Zepeda showed that this Intra team has a lot of potential! They are looking forward to a successful season this year.

On Thursday, July 11 Sony hosted Ramona Soccer League’s U13 Boys Intra team for their annual Sony Cup. The U13 team was given the opportunity to visit Sony’s U.S. headquarters in Rancho Bernardo and watch the top two Sony employee soccer teams play their final playoff match on the roof of one of the Sony buildings. The indoor-style game was an intense match that was eventually won by the blue team, which featured U13 Boys’ coach Isaac Garcia. The U13 boys were scheduled to play the championship Sony team, but the game was rained out.
The U13 boys were then treated to lunch and a tour of the amazing five-year-old Sony facilities, which featured a gym, basketball court, indoor soccer field, volleyball, themed break rooms, an amazing cafeteria and much more. The tour ended with gifts for each player and the donation of a brand new Sony laptop to the team. The Sony laptop will be raffled off to raise funds for the Boys U13 team. Sunday the boys played Vegas Galaxy and won that game 1-0. INTRA BU14 placed 1st and undefeated in their bracket and advanced on to the finals. The championship game between INTRA and Vegas Galaxy was a great game that ended in a 2-1 loss for INTRA. With numerous injuries it left the boys with no subs after 10 minutes in the first half and 3 injured players playing on the field for the remainder of the game, the boys showed just how much heart and love they have for the game and played through the pain. Coach Ocampo and his staff were very proud of the boys and their dedication. INTRA Boys U14’s next tournament will be on July 13th and 14th they will be playing in the Kick For Hope tournament.
